Idle problem presists--sorry, long....

HI all,
1989, 9000S. (250k, 5spd) I have been trying to remedy a hot start problem for some time. Have gone through the archives and done most of the things suggested--still not much improvement.
Here's the problem: When I am starting the car warm, it will turn over and start no problem. But, after it starts the tach will go down to about 400 or below and the car will stall. If I coax it a bit with the throttle, it will recover and stabilize--then it will idle pretty smoothly at around 900-1,000.
So far I have replaced vacuum lines, cleaned the throttle body, changed the air filter and had the leaking flex coupling in the exhaust replaced. I have also checked out and cleaned the AIC--it operates freely. Can someone give me help to determine whether there is sufficient current at the AIC?
Any other help or check routines would be great. Love the car, hate the funky idle.
