Didn't think so, not on diagram. What I've done so far Posted by Bill Homer [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Re: Boost Control Processor - separate control unit?, Eric Law, Thu, 6 Nov 2003 09:10:43 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I know that base boost is a common problem, and have read many, many posts on the subject. So far, I have done:
* New NGK plugs gapped to 1.0mm.
* New 3.5mm silicone vacuum line throughout, including to manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor.
* Checked one-way valve on PCV vent.
* Tightened hoses to Idle Control Valve.
* New Viggen BPV, did blow/suck test on vacuum connection.
* Tightened all hose connectors downwind of the turbo.
* Adjusted base boost from 5 to 6 psi (measured).
* Unplugged trionic ECU for several hours - it reset itself to a rougher idle which has now smoothed out a bit.
* Tried two different used BCP solenoids, but couldn't verify if they functioned properly (not my car, their owners are oblivious to the boost gauge). BCP Solenoid that was in car had one coil shorted, the others Ohmed out OK. I have another one from a 9-3 that I haven't tried yet.
* Tested valve to charcoal canister by blowing (blocked) and sucking (Yech!).
The only feasible idea that I have come up with is that an output transistor on the trionic ECU was fried by the shorted BCP solenoid (hard to believe that it's designed this poorly, given the high failure rate of these!) - I'll try everything else before I replace the ECU, but I think that I already have. How about a way to pressurize the system and look for leaks, i.e. in the intercooler?
Any other good ideas or places to look?
