especially for using your Aero!

The thing I've seen with kids learning to drive a stickshift (which was only 17% of new vehicle sales, and this figure was from 2000, I believe), is that they have trouble recognizing the friction point.

You'll need to teach muscle memory of where this is located on the pedal stroke. So, break down all the movements of shifting.

Go to an empty parking lot. Start the car, and without touching the shifter, gas pedal, or steering wheel, have them slowly release the clutch pedal until the car begins to move forward. If they let it out too fast, obviously the car will stall. If you do it slow enough, then the car will move forward a few feet before you push the clutch back in.

Try it yourself a couple of times before you expect your son/daughter to do it.

Next step is to add the gas pedal as you let the clutch out (I've taught this with folks not steering so they could concentrate on the pedals).
