howdy there,

First thing i can tell you is, that the clicking sound that your car makes that GOES AWAY when you push down the clutch pedal is the throwout bearing in the clutch itself. It doesn't necesarrily mean it's BAD from what i've heard, just noisy. Mine did it and it annoyed me, and i was just about to replace my clutch completely anyways... so i did and it STILL does it with the new one, which is a high performance clutch kit, sooo, i assume this a "normal" issue. Maybe someone will correct me, but i do not think that THAT SOUND is related to the other problems you are having... however, if you wanted to replace it, the part itself is less than $100...

...about the SRS light, in the owners manual or somewhere i've read before says there is a certain fuse, i think THE fuse for the SRS system, that IF YOU PULL IT while the car is on, the SRS warning light will come on, and a SAAB DEALER will have to clear the fault and get the light off...

Now it sounds to me like when your alternator/voltage reg died, your car could have either blown that fuse (or many fuses) or just triggered the fault system to engage.

You should check ALL of your fuses... just to make sure nothing blew...

As for the Electronic display... that is lit up by 2 or 3 little tiny lightbulbs behind the screen... although rare, all of them could possibly be blown... if you find no fuses blown in the glovebox, then blown light bulbs is a possibility... you could have been running on ONE bulb for a while, and when that blew, you had no more, ya know? I'm not sure how you could test the digital screen itself to make sure it's on... you could maybe point a flashlight at it from the front while you are driving to see if any of the readings are barely visible, and if they are, you've got blown bulbs. That's a long day of removing the entire insturment cluster to replace them, and i guess i could talk you through that if i had to... but to continue...

Clutch slave might need to be replaced... and also COULD possible be something wrong with the clutch pedal assembly itself. My friend had a clutch pedal go bad because some of the metal was torn on the assembly, and it wouldn't engage right, except you wouldn't have known that unless you looked at it. It's not a fun thing to be upside down inspecting under the dash, but it's worth 30 minutes of your time. Especially when the previous owner mentioned "adjusting" the clutch.

Don't think it's the transmission JUST YET, thats a huge costly deal and i think this is something minor...

post your results...

good luck
