oh yeah, no way i'm paying saabmech to get my digital display working
i can live without mpg, etc.

all the important lights should still work (shifter indicator, wipers, fuel, etc., on the right are ok).

digital display worked fine after alternator for several days, and the srs light came on simultaneous to the digital display going out, so i'm wondering if the srs light coming on is supposed to be an indicator of a bulb malfunction, or a related knowable fault. i'm going to ask saab mech over the phone.

$80/hr is miami for saab mechanics, at least the two i know of. in massachusetts i paid $55 for saab mech, and $45 for the guys who used to work on my car (I provided parts from eeuroparts), making saab ownership affordable. cost of living for a saab here in miami is steep indeed.

shifting hasn't changed since yesterday, shifts ok, looked at pedal, didn't see anything obvious, no leaking fluid from master, or hoses, when i press on the pedal it travels fine, just doesn't meet any resistance through the master for a bit, and as soon as it does meet resistance, the clutch engages, which is what it was doing before just sooner in the pedal travel.

didn't see any fluid under hood, under car, or on as much as i could see of bell housing without really crawling around.

who knows, maybe i can drive the car for awhile if the saab mech comes up dry.

what i've found with saab mechs, re your words, is that they start with the most obvious part and just keep replacing parts until you have a new saab and the problem is gone (usually). they seem to have a clear conscience because the parts would have gone someday anyway, and charging what they charge for labor, they figure better off replace it now while its semi-apart and save you some future labor charges.

the master fix seemed fine for a week or more, and the pedal doesn't stick, so maybe the master is ok, but it's a soon coincidence.

thanks, will update as i have info...
