...i might have had a garage do it, but i made sure they explained the whole process to me, before i even decided to shell out the money. I wanted to know if it was a "simple" drop in, bolt up procedure, or if they had to "cob-job" some stuff...
...they said everything will bolt up, but some things need to be replaced to fit the 5-speed trans.
Both front axles will need to come from a 5-speed car.
I believe the radiator too, but i'm not positive....
the entire clutch and flywheel system... including all pedals, master/slave cylander, linkage, interior panel for shifter, shifter assembly...
...something has to be modified for the back-up lights to work correctly
you need to jump several wires where the auto shift selector used to be in order for the car to even start.... pins 1 and 5, and also pins 3 and 4 for the cruise control system to work...
the EDU on the insturment cluster will need to be replaced...\
the pipe running from the intercooler to the throttle body will need to be replaced, unless you want to plug up the extra hole in it that the auto trans used to need to aid in shifting...
obviously, while the engine/tansmission/car is taken apart, you want to replace everything there on the spot that needs it, not counting all of the conversion parts that you should be buying NEW, because if you're using all used parts you're setting yourself up for a failure before you even get it running again...
...um..... let's see.... if that doesn't sound like several hunderd to thousand dollars in parts and labor that you SHOULDN'T SPEND, than e-mail me and i'll keep going...
or you can take my word for it... i've done it and i seriously won't ever recommend that anyone else ever do it.
I should have listed to all of the people who told ME not to when I was asking... but alas, i couldn't be told what to do... i was a silly saab owner with a dream... now i'm a silly saab owner who is BROKE...
go for it... but don't say someone never warned you
