This will give you some relay basics, including pin numbers.
First take a meter, and with the Ignition ON, measure the voltage on pin 30 OF THE RELAY SOCKET, as compared to ground. Red on the electrical contact inside the socket, black on unpainted car chassis, or the negative terminal of the battery. You should see 12 volts or so (car is on, right?) The relay isn't plugged in - you're making sure you're getting the 12 volts that the relay switches. If you don't see 12 volts there, then there is a wiring/fuse problem.
OK, now jumper a wire between 30 and 87 on the socket. Yes 16 gauge is fine. Listen if the ABS pump runs. If so, the pump is OK. If not, make sure the ABS pump has a good ground.
If the pump runs, the problem could be a bad relay, or the signal driving the relay. We'll tackle that next, if/when you get that far.
