... to reset the ecu.
I suggest disconnecting the battery overnight. First remove the positive cable, then the negative cable, and let the car sit overnight.
In the morning hook up the negative, then the positive... and start the car.
you SHOULD notice the idle is better right away... ***IF*** the problem was caused by the ECU.
broken motor mounts shouldn't affect the idle, but they're not good to ignore either.
Base boost, while annoying, isn't BAD for your car, so you can still drive it for your job.
The BAD news is, that if you disconnected the W hose and you DIDN'T get any more boost, then it could mean that the turbo has a bad wastegate, or it is stuck open, or perhaps the wastegate just needs to be adjusted.
If you don't already know, the W hose that you disconnected supplies air pressure to the wastegate. The wastegate is a device on the turbocharger itself, that when it recieves pressure from the W hose, it OPENS up a flap on the exhause side of the turbo unit, and diverts the exhaust flow around the turbo. This causes less exhaust air to spin the turbo, which creates the low boost or base boost situation.
Sometimes with old age, the wastegate will get stuck open, or the internal diaphragm will spring a leak.
in any case, you need to get your car checked out some more before you go on a huge driving trip. There is NO easy fix i can tell you... other than postpone your trip and see a mechanic! ;)
if you do drive, be gentle!
