Thanks guys, I appreciate the comments.
That being said, you haven't completely deterred me :-)
I want to learn to fix cars, and frankly it would be a lot easier to learn now than later, when I have a full-time job.
Although I want to learn, I'll never do it with a car I don't care about. I want a car that I can love enough to work on for hours :-)
I'm living on campus, and I have a bike. I won't drive that much, and I won't *need* to drive at all. I do need to get to school, but after that, it would be okay if it didn't work for a week while I learned to fix it. This is a new hobby as much as a means of transportation.
Andrew: how did you learn to do the repairs? How long did it take?
I'm transferring to Evergreen (in Olympia, WA). I'm not worried about my car getting destroyed, but I won't have a garage, so I don't know where I'd be able to work on it. Any suggestions from the garageless?
