Hello everyone,
I'm having some weird issues with my car (again).. ;)
Nothing serious...
here's the deal.
My car is boosting up to 21 psi now, but it will ADAPT DOWN as i drive it over the course of several days. At that time i get less and less boost for the same ammount of gas, i can still get 19-20 psi, but i have to floor it.
Usually i can get 20 psi with the pedal down about 3/4 of the way.
When this happens, i simply disconnect the battery overnight, and reconnect it in the morning, where the problem is solved!
I've done this about 3 times. The first two times i didn't notice a CEL, but now when i turn the key to ON i get 5 flashes of the CEL, repeating.
When i looked up the code, i got this information. The 5 flashes means something about the engine load signal from the LH box... or a map sensor....
however i'm pretty sure my 1990 with the DI/APC system does NOT use a map sensor.... right? if it did, i'm sure that would be my problem...
This is a quote from a previous post on the matter, but this is all it said:
Here's what the Townsend Imports pages from the Fastory Service Manual says about the 5 flashes
"A fault in the engine load signal from the LH control box to the ECU is indicated by 5 pulses. Check for continuity between pin 25 on the LH box harness connector and pin 8 on the EZK connector. Connect the leads from the back fo the plugs to avoid dmaging the contacts. If there is no fault in the wiring, substitute a known good LH box."
So... i've looked at a wiring diagram for my car, and pin 25 from my LH box does NOT go to pin 8 of ANYTHING, but it is connected to pin 36 of my DI/APC box.
So... since this is the only indicator that something is screwy with my car, i'm guessing once i solve this issure i won't have the "adaptation" issues with my car anymore...
does anyone have any ideas? anders?
