Might be a long shot...
I've noticed my AC compressor on my 93 CSE always seem to go on and off by itself even though the ACC is set to off. Sometimes I can bypass this by quickly switching on, then OFF again. The result of it being on is a noisy lumpy idle which is highly noticeable at stoplights, when it usually seems to click on.
Does your lumpy idle go away when you put the car in neutral??
When the car is moving, I don't notice it. Been meaning to ask about it, but not sure I want another project. What causes AC compressor to come on when the ACC is set to OFF.
The compressor is noisy as well, when it's on, and the car is parked, at first I thought I had serious engine problems, when i first took delivery of the car a few months ago. AC blows ice cold though, and prior owner said it was replaced within last year or two (looks newer).
