Hi Aaron,
first since we know you had problems with
stuck bolts on this car before - soak the
three bolts to the control arm and the bolt into the
steering knuckle in PB Blaster,
Kroil, or your fav penetrating oil.
Now, you need to remove the wheels.
Check your bearings for crunchiness while
you're there.
Then take out the three bolts to the control arm,
and remove the one to knuckle. Now you remove the
ball joint from the knuckle and then reverse to install.
BUT removing the ball joint from the knuckle
could be a problem. A shop would use a ball
joint separator, which looks kinda like a big
tuning fork. Well maybe you know this and have one.
They're not that expensive, but I don't know what size you
need. That'll make it easier, but it can be worked
out without one usually.
If you're wondering if they are bad. Check to see
if the seals and such look bad or are obviously
damaged - that would be bad. If you can compress
or move the ball joint more than about 1/10 inch
that would be bad too. If when you have the car up you
can noticably push and pull on the wheel that would be
very bad.
