In fact, I did the passenger side no problem, but the driver's side ...
I don't want to think about it. I acutally PAID a mechanic to do the work. Besides exhaust work (really hard with a jack in your backyard!), this is the only job that I've paid a mechanic for in the last two years!
Buck mentioned that you've had rusted bolts on this car before, and his recommendations about PB Blaster is great. I also like Yaofeng's idea about using a hydraulic jack--that's a much larger mechanical advantage than any brute force you could bring with your BFH.
The problem I had was not the three nuts/bolts holding the ball joint to the control arm, but the pinch bolt that squeezes around the top of the ball joint. Actually the pinch bolt itself came right out, but the metal was squeezing and rusted ...
