Here's the situation:
My daughter is about to get her driver's license. My wife and I have generally been opposed to her having a car, but are coming to realize that if she drives my wife's Exploder or my 9K, and has an accident, it puts us one of us out of a car while repairs are made or a car is replaced. Plus, they are both in great shape and we'd rather not change cars! (and I really don't want her driving my 9K!).

SO, we think her having a car is not such a bad idea. We can't afford to turn either car over to her and replace it with something newer, so we are figuring on spending about $3K for a car for her. We are thinking Saabs due to the usual reasons--safety, utility and longevity--plus I can DIY them more readily than other makes and we have a superb indy nearby. Plus there is TSN for technical and moral support!

The question for the BB is:
Should we go with a 9000 (probably a CS with an automatic) or an NG900 automatic, possibly a non-turbo? Maybe even a 92 or 93 C900 if I can find a decent one. She seems to be a conservatiive driver (at least so far) so less power is not an issue (and probably a good thing). I do want her to have ABS. I'm partial to getting a 9000, but know there may be more "issues" to deal with than on the other models.

What do you think of the general reliability on each model? I don't know much about NG900s, so will post there on issues on that car. Alternatively I'm thinking about a Suby/Honda/Yota, but would really rather have her in something more substantial, even a Taurus.

Thanks in advance for all your input.

Noel
