That is what I was told independently by two very experienced Saab mechanics. Both of my classic 900s had solid rotors which warped easily. I had to replace the rotors every time I replaced the pads. In contrast, with both of my CSEs which have vented rotors I have never seen warped rotors and have only replaced the rotors when they are distictly grooved. I have always gone through at least two sets of pads per rotor and sometimes three. The accumulated mileage on the 9000s is 385,000 miles. It may depend on how you drive. I always shift down on the long hills.
