On the effect of PS fluid on alternators - i heard it has a corrosive nature and attacks the brushes -- i had seen prior posts where alts wre damaged by PS fluid leaks - and this one had a decent one - a drop every 6-8 seconds whre the hi pressure hose goes into the pump .....
in the past i when i pulled the alt off - the relatively new brushes were down to nubs ....
i went the rebuilt route as there is a local ma-pa company here that will rebuild mine for $90. maybe pa needs a talking to ...
a local i used before said there is a fuse that gets blown when the alt - VR goes - i thought maybe a spike from the VR would blow one (14.6 is the highest i saw)- or the idiot light was on a circuit that could get blown - but to me thats more the result of an alt problem than the cause of one ...
thanks guys
