I would like to think that I may have the longest public road Saab 9000 drive in history (someone call Guinness :)). With a trusted co-pilot, we took my '87 9kT from Sedona, AZ to Asheville, NC in one shot. I just Mapquest-ed it, and that's over 2000 miles. While the 9k did well, it would be a lie to say I wasn't a little fatigued after that trip! Honestly, I probably wouldn't do this again and I'm not sure how safe it was towards the end.
Other long distance drives include about 1000 miles, from NC to the Florida Keys, and about 1300 miles from NC to Nebraska. Typically with a hatch full of stuff and 30+ mpg. People think I'm crazy taking a car of this vintage and with so many miles on long trip, but I can't think of a car that's better for the job!
