The switch was never installed in a 5-speed car... so the wires do not need to be jumpered because they don't run to the switch.
Now, what this switch looks like and where it is actually located... i'm not sure.
But it makes sense to me, that since the switch was never present in a 5-speed, the wires don't need jumpers.
ya know?
So, the bigger problem here... your brake lights not going out...
How do you KNOW the switch is fine?
it doesn't sound fine to me! ;)
Buy a new swtich for $12, plug it in, and then you'll really KNOW that it's not the switch.
the internal mechanisms of the switch could be the cu;prit here, and not the outer plastic clips...
