Got to a set of schematics for 1993 that I have, and it also shows the filament monitor in between the brake light switch and the brake lamps. Some different and cryptic pinouts shown at the monitor, pin 3 going to the left (red wire), and pin 9 (red/white) going to the right brake lamps. White wire is coming in from the brake light switch (oddly also shown as pin 9, and jumpered to pin 10)
The output from the brake switch goes off to a few other places like the ABS control unit, shift lock relay, ECU, but they should be strictly inputs. If any of those are causing the brakes to remain on, then something is seriously hosed. If you see 12V on both sides of the brake light switch, then you might have some reason to suspect those, but that seems unlikely.
If your brake switch is indeed good, and the brake lights remain on even if you disconnect the switch, then you need to check the filament monitor and associated wiring.
