The air mass meter wont affect the aircon.The DI should be under ignition systems in the engine or engine electrical.To put it in very simple terms, when you press the accelerator, you arent controlling the amount of fuel, you are controlling the amount of air into the engine.If the air mass meter isnt sending the correct signals, then your car will suffer from the symptoms you describe.
Good luck finding what you need on eeuroparts and with your further repairs.
P.S.: changing the DI or the Air mass meter wont get your hands too dirty.
