I've just done both heater-core and blower motor on my '93CD which has air-con. The heater-core hose attachments (the plastic pipes into the core) on my car are removeable. You have to remove them BEFORE fitting the heater core. Afix the rubber hoses to them BEFORE fitting the plastic pipes back into the heater-core body. There are little O rings in the fitting, be sure that they remain in-place. Tightening the clamps for the plastic heater-core pipes is easy. Blower motor + housing and heater-core replacement = 3 hours, start to finish.
