Hi Joe,

I was just going to put a proud message that I became part of the blower motor/ heater core brigade as well, when I saw your cry of frustration. Took me 2 hours at my leisure to get the motor housing out and replace the motor core.

I found the clips at the bottom the hardest part. I had secretly hoped that I could get the housing out without undoing the core hoses, but that proved impossible for me. On inspection the existing core was in very good shape, better than the slightly used one I had at hand as replacement, so I let it in place.
Also the motor was surprisingly hard to get out of the housing, had to hammer it out. The cage I supplanted, the whole thing slid in easily.

So now I have to put it back tomorrow ( I do this as an 'after dinner'job, drive the 9-3SS for the commute)....Guess I have to wait till then before being too proud of myself..

Heads up, Joe. I'll let you know how it went.
And do not put the car on fire. I know it's such a nice one when everything functions.
