DIY repairs.
Remember this: we ALL started not knowing how to do this stuff. Some of us learned on Saabs, some on other makes. There are differences between cars, but they all work the same way and the parts are similar. Some guys here are really skilled, others just do a lot of routine stuff. You kinda find your own level. I look at it that it's easy to justify having a pro do some things if you've saved a few hundred on other stuff.
There's a lot of stuff that is not hard to do, but just takes time. If you have the time to put into a job (even though other stuff around the house doesn't get done) it sure beats paying someone to do the work. Labor rates have a way of adding up fast and the savings over time by DIY can be pretty large. (Especially on a car that can be, ahhh... finicky!!) 8^)
More easy stuff to do when the time comes: Air and fuel filters, brake pads and rotors, serpentine belt and pulleys. Oil changes if you haven't done it yet.
And keep coming here for support!
