Changing the dash lid isn't that hard

It's a matter of following instructions in the right order, or close to it. The speaker grilles have to come out in order to find dash top bolts, and the bolts (screws) on the side of the dash at the doors have to come out, plus the one inside the glove compartment (or where the compartment used to be). That one may have moved to around the instrument cluster. Then the "A" piller covers have to be slid upwards to remove them (putting them back on will cause you to swear like a navy person)and the top slides forward after lifting up on the front edge and pulling. However, the last time I did this was on my 87 and the light sensor was on the right speaker housing and there may be issues with the sensor in the middle of the dash; but the sensor probably comes out easily. I'm sure Quasi has a full set of instructions on how to do this operation. I think I read a post where europarts might sell dash tops - but don't hold me to that.
