I did some reading of previous posts.
I measured the resistance of the coils in the BPC I removed (the used one that worked for 200 miles)
pins 1 and 2 -> 3.1 ohms
pins 2 and 3 -> 3.1 ohms
I then went out to the car. Fuse five was blown - my indie just looked at the car and did not find this!
I then measure the resistance from the pins (1 and 3) on the connector to the BPC to ground. One seemed to have infinite resistance the other was 0.6 ohms.
Am I right in thinking this means that one of the transistors in my ECM is dead? Why did this happen if the BPC I took out is measuring 3.1 ohm on both coils? If I just try replacing the fuse is there any risk to the new BPC?
What year ECM's can I use in my 95 CSE? What is the usual price for a used ECM? What is involved in replacing the ECM?
Is it possible that the BPC I took out (that worked for 200 miles) is fine and the transitor in the ECM just died? Am I right it thinking that I cannot return the new BPC to Eeuroparts?
Thanks
Rupert
