93 CSE, I have the clunk/pop noise from right hand side, only makes the noise when applying power in first gear. I tightened all the sub frame bolts, did the ball joint, rear bushing in front control arm, new caps on front bushings, etc, etc, etc... still have the noise which I just live with.
A word of caution. I was going to replace the front bushings, even bought the parts. But I was discouraged by the difficulty of it. I tried to outsource the job, but I could not find a machine shop that could do the job, & saab wouldn't do it (guess they didn't want me handing them parts to assemble). I left the old bushings in since they did not show any sign of wear.
If you ever find the source of you clunk/pops, please post.
