I had a popping noise from the right front area when taking off, or any time when shifting throttle position less than perfectly smoothly. They checked all the suspension in the front end, couldn't find any loose bolts or other problems. It turned out to be a loose bolt on one of the lower engine mounts. The mount hasn't been replaced in many years, so I guess they can work loose... it's a solid rubber mount though, which last far longer than the hydraulic type. The hydraulic ones likely would have failed before the bolt loosened up again. :)
