Try the two alloy end parts on the control arm mount

I had this too and the car failed on its annual MOT (UK) test. The two alloy end fittings for the bar for mounting of the control arm (some call it wishbone) to the subframe had corroded away. I've had six 9000s now and seen this on most of them.
I think it is (maybe by accident) a good design. The alloy end pieces corrode, but in doing so protect the subframe from corrosion.
The good part is they are cheap to replace and the competent DIYer can do it in about 2 hours. Check the other side at the same time - they are probably corroded too.
Don't be tempted to just tighted the bar more to the subframe and compress the corroded end piece. The end piece gives a better fit to the subframe and provides corrosion protection as above.
