I had a really expensive system in my 88 (long gone) and haven't gone to the trouble of putting one in my Aero since I've only had it about a month. In the 88 I had a Pioneer Premier HU, 4" MBQ components in dash, 6.5" MBQ component rears (different then CS cars which are 6x9). The 6.5" I had running off of of an external 100wx2 amp, while the fronts ran off the HU. I also had an a/d/s aluminum 10" dvc subwoofer in the trunk running off a more "serious" amplifier. It was an incredible sounding system.
I like the Nakamichi stuff for the reasons discussed before, and I've installed 2 of them in friends vehicles (CD400 in VW Jetta and Toyota 4Runner) and the sound is simply amazing. I think that if Nakamichi is good enough for 200k Ferraris and Porsches their stuff has to be somewhat good :) A factory look without all the bells and whistles, but still providing stellar sq is hard to beat. If I ever was to redo the entire stereo in my Aero, you can guess what would be in the dash...I just don't feel like taking the entire interior apart. Been there, done that.
