I had been looking for 98 CSE manual for almost a year. Finally found one in the Philadelphia area that was originally a leased car in CT. The PO assured me that everything worked. I even talked to his Indy. It was difficult dealing over the phone. I bought 2 one-way tickets (my wife came along for the ride). The car missed when I jumped on it (the PO said it must be the gas). I thought "bad DI" which it turned out to be. I also smelled radiator fluid which, of course I knew was the heater core. So I knew I was looking at $1000 of repairs.

But, I just wanted to hit the road so I grumbled a little bit but went through with the deal. On the plus side, the body is rust free. Zero rust under the door flaps and even the under carriage is remarkably rust free. Both seat heaters work as well as all electronics. Two dollars worth of Bar's leak has virtually eliminated the heater core leak and my indy put in a 2 month old DI out of a wreck.

I've always purchased my Saabs around 100k and always figure they'll need $1000 to get them up to snuff and around that much per year to keep them that way. I always get 100-150k worth of luxury driving for about the cost of an economy car. Did I mention I've had the same indy for 27 years?

The only really super deal I got was buying an 11 month old 1980 900 with 7,000 miles for $6,900. I sold it a year later for $7,500 with 27,000 miles. Now if I could do that every year!!
