possible, of course, but main bearing noises usually show up under load. or if it's the thrust, when you start the car with the clutch in. since yours is an auto, the thrust is probably not terribly worn. you can check the endplay on the crank to test. not sure the exact procedure on a saab, but in theory you grab the crank pulley (engine OFF, of course) and move it in and out. not sure the exact spec, but if you can hear it, or more than barely feel it, it may be too much.
