As jonAerol says, the outside air temperature sensor is under the spoiler chin. It does have an effect on the climate control, but not in a way to make the interior too hot. The outside temperature signal is used to determine things like when to have the recirculation flap open, and if to kick into defrost modes.
Interior temperature is controlled by two sensors. One is the sensor jonAero described - the cabin air temp sensor. It's the little bulls-eye in the center of the dash. It has a fan that draws in air from the cabin over a temperature sensor. If that is reading wrong, it will think that the cabin is colder than it really is, and turn up the heat. The typical failure mode is for the little fan to stop, however, that tends to make the sensor think it's hotter in the cabin than it really is, so the cabin is too cold. But check that sensor out.
The other sensor is in the heater box, and it measures the temperature of the air coming out of the hot air/cold air mixer. If that were reading low, it could be blasting out too much hot air. But the cabin air sensor, if working properly, should catch it.
I'd suggest recalibrating the ACC by running self-test - press the AUTO (top left) and VENT (bottom right) buttons at the same time - the display will dim, and then the system will cycle through a self-test. That cleans up a lot of strange ACC problems. For more info, see the Townsend site on the subject:
