only bled 1 cycle, JUST noticed BIG puddle under trans Posted by Henry Helfman [Email] (#787) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Henry Helfman) on Mon, 18 Dec 2006 16:22:32 In Reply to: Re: killed clutch hydraulics by pressure bleeding clutc, SWEDECAR [Profile/Gallery] , Mon, 18 Dec 2006 16:04:55 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I have really dont think that I over bled the system with just 1 bleed cycle. The pedal doesn't feel like I accidentally allowed the system to suck in a little air. It goes COMPLETELY to the floor without any resistance whatsoever.
I just noticed a pretty big puddle of brake fluid under the bellhousing/shave area. Much more than I think the little amount of fluid that flowed out during that 1 bleed cycle.
Looking at the slave cylinder through the access port, it looks like the piston/throwout bearing has articulated rather far towards the pressure plate.
My theory is that the clutch disc has worn, the slave has self adjusted to compensate and I believe my 1 cycle (admittedly probably pretty high pressure) might have caused the slave cylinder to hyperextend or blow it's seal. Does this seem to make any sense?
