PGAero,

The warranty i was mentioning was for the bilsteins... not for the springs...

I have read that shocks and stuts lose their ability over time i suppose, but wether it causes and sagging i guess i really don't know. I've had mine since 2002, and put around 30-40k on them...

I DO know that on the bilstein website, for a warranty replacement, you have to prove that the unit in question has either failed, or lost it's ability to fully absorb shock.

they suggest that you use a new unit of the same model number for comparison, and compress them both and compare travel distance, if your unit is off from the new one by a certain ammount, then you can get a replacement...

I don't want to go through all that trouble, and my mechanic thinks they are ok... but the lifetime warranty isn't like a simple "they're worn out and i'm getting new ones for free now"... like i hoped it would be ;)

bilstein's warranty website directed me to a "warranty hotline" phone service, and after 20 minutes of going through three or four automated menu choices, the automated service directed me to use the warranty WEBSITE again...

it was quite run-around a waste of time, but i got a laugh out of it! ;)

So, STREET...

i'm very glad to hear that springs don't sag as much as I think they do, but i'm still going to use the 1/2" spacers in the back.

For some odd reason, and i have NO idea why...

i could not use a 215/45/17 tire on my car... the 90 9kt... it just wouldn't fit in the wheel wells...

i can't remember if i was using 8mm hubcentric spacers in the rear yet at this point, but i own a pair now, if i need them...

i had to go with the 205/40/17, which over time ruined my wheels from dents right through the sidewall... and i don't recommend anyone go will less than a 45 tire EVER, not on our heavy cars anyways...

I hope the SAS spacers i get provide me with enough clearance to use the 205/45/17 tires i have on my new 17's... i'll let everyone know if they don't... then we'll have a problem with the rear shocks i guess, right?

in any case...

thank you both for your replies... I'm not talkin any "smack" about intrax springs... i wouldn't even know right because i don't own them myself...

however a friend of mine has intrax (purple) springs on his 92 9kt... and he thinks his ride is rough... but he uses boge front stuts, bilstein rear shocks, sas swaybars, strut tower brace front AND rear, and poly bushings everywhere... so... different setup than mine... hard to say if it's the springs he doesn't like i guess...

so, street, if you have RED intrax springs... i guess that means i could have intrax tho myself? are you sure they're intrax? :)

i'm about to call my original mechanic and harass him until he remember what exactly he bought me...

he was SUPPOSED to save all the receipts, but he "lost" them...

ug
