at least here in the states, lots of 10-40 is total crrap, especially the stuff you get for really cheap. it is too wide a viscosity spread to make without either good stock or expensive modifiers.
15-40 is (iiuc) always a diesel-spec oil, much heavier duty than any non-turbo rated oil.
i used to use 15-40 or 10-30 turbo oil (in the winter) and never had an oil-related failure.
i think that good oil is money well spent, especially in a turbo car. check bobistheoilguy.com, geeks who love oil like we love saabs.
try a cheap oil, if it makes a difference, dump it and try a better one. some engines just don't like certain oils.
these days, i am running rotella t 5-40 and both the car and i seem happy.
