Question about ECU for LPT to FTP conversion

A lot has been said on this topic, and I have gleaned much valuable information from this forum. What I would like to know is: can I use an ECU from an Aero model (5-spd) for the ECU swap? My car is a 1995 9000 CS, no TCS, and the ECU in question comes from a 1994 Aero, no TCS. I have read varying comments from, "Don't use an Aero ECU," to "It gives slightly more power than the ECU from a 200 hp FPT".
Has anyone done this? Is there a compelling reason why I should look strictly for an ECU from a 1995 CSE FPT?
Thanks
