I would think to replace the C/V joints with some good rebuilt (complete axles) ones from Rockauto.com.,once you start hearing C/V joints concerns. The other issue will be the front wheel bearing hubs, as these are only greased once when assembled. With the AC loading-up the engine, check the AIC idle control. My 87/9000 turbo has only 183.000 miles on it and its not unusual to not be replacing many parts on a properly maintain car. Glad to hear that you would rather keep one of these awesome 9000 Saab's instead of replacing it. With a family, this is a good choice for safety.
