Yes, replacing the fan isn't a ton of fun, but it is doable. The controller may or may not have survived. If the fan motor failed open circuit, the controller will be OK. If the fan failed short, it will kill the controller. Measuring the resistance of the fan motor at the contacts will tell that story.
Let's assume no one has re-wired the system, so the AC clutch pulling in means that the system has refrigerant - otherwise the low pressure switch will keep the AC clutch from pulling in. Does the clutch pull in and drop out periodically, as it should? Or does it pull in and stay pulled in for the full two minutes? If it pulls in and stays pulled in, the something in the wiring is wrong, and the system may be out of refrigerant. But if it is cycling, you might just have a bad expansion valve. Getting an AC shop to put gauges on the system will work that out.
How easy is it to swap engine/AC system? A lot harder than replacing the blower motor. I'm not sure if the tranny bell housing will match - there were some minor changes from 1994 to 1995. Others might be able to help with that. There are also electrical differences, so you might want to be swapping wiring, too.
If the car starts, runs, shifts, and stops, that's a good place to begin. There are plenty of write-ups on replacing the blower motor. If you're in there, think about replacing the heater core. As to the AC system, look for signs of wiring 'additions', especially around the receiver/dryer/pressure sensor area (behind the right headlight). Again, the clutch shouldn't pull in with low pressure. Then again, if the clutch never drops out, the system wiring has probably been played with.
