I did the same thing when my '95 Aero blew a connecting rod through the block. I bought a '00 9-5 Aero. At the time I was in TX, didn't have as much time to look for a car. Ended up with an auto. Still a great car. Went through some rather annoying issues. ABS computer, tires, pvc fix, water pump, pulley that shredded a belt on the highway..just to name a few. The 9-5 board is very knowledgeable with these problems. The 99-01 to have the sludge issue to watch for. I kept that car for about 8 months or so. Sold it and got myself the '98. To me, it just is not the same quality of car. Still a great car, just not for me. Part of the reason could have been the auto but in general I just did not love driving it the way I love driving the 9000. Probably more personal preference than anything. Give it a good test drive. Make sure it really is that car you love to drive, and if it is...go for it. If its not, find the next 9000. You already have one with a lot of spare parts, or just fix that one. Good luck! PS...if you go with the 9-5...I still need a complete aero body kit.. ;-) lol
