OK, the 9-5 isn't an Aero, but that's not a big deal. My 9K is a 5-speed with a one year-old Aero suspension and the ECU from a '98 5-speed, but not the Aero turbo or seats.
I like the 9K better as it feels more connected to the road and is faster. It is in general more comfortable, but both are fine on 8-13 hour trips. I think the 9K seats are a bit more supportive, but some of that is up to individual anatomy.
Both have been quite reliable. The 9K has 164K on it, the 9-5 just turned 89K. For the most part they've had normal maintenance and repair, including typical wear items. Had some minor stuff on the 9-5 under the CPO warranty (rear shocks, bushings, DI, PCV upgrade, couple others) but it's been very reliable for 50K miles. I think the 9K is overall a more solid car, but both are fine.
My other 9K is my daughter's '95 CS automatic and while it needs a bunch of stuff just now (normal wear cycle) it's quite solid and it should go several more years.
That said, I know the 9K can't last forever and a 9-5 is a perfectly reasonable replacement. I'd buy one, but would lean toward a '03 or later with a service history that showed 5K oil changes.
