I took it to the structural inspector, and asked him to outsource the alignment, which it magically passed. (I gave no indication that I'd had it aligned previously). Now I know for sure this whole alignment business is fraudulent. Check out the final readings of the dealership (first place I took it) to the initial readings at the next place:
Alignment 1 (as left) Alignment 2 (as found) (as left)
Front Camber

L 0.1 R -0.5 L -0.4 R -0.4 L -0.4 R -0.4
(-0.2 to -1.2) (-0.1 to -1.1)

Front Caster
L 1.7 R 1.8 L 1.9 R 1.5 L 1.9 R 1.5
(1.2 to 2.2) (1.1 - 2.2)

Front Toe
L 0.09 R 0.13 L 3/32" R 1/16" L 1/32" R 1/32"
(0.04-0.17) (1/32" to 1/32") (wtf??)

Front Total Toe
0.22 5/32" 1/16"
(0.07-0.34) (1/32" to 5/32")

Steer Ahead
-0.02 n/a
(-0.05 to 0.05)

Rear Camber
L -0.3 R -1.0 L -1.0 R 0.0 L -0.4 R 0.0
(-0.3 to -0.8) (0.0 to -0.5)

Rear Toe
L 0.31 R 0.05 L 1/32" R -1/32" L 1/16" R 1/16"
(0.07 to 0.28) (0 to 3/32")

Rear Total Toe
0.35 0" 1/8"
(0.14 to 0.56) (1/32" to 5/32")

Thrust Angle
0.12 0.1 0.0
(no spec shown)

Now, I'm happy that it passed and I was able to register it, but I'm even more skeptical of the readings this place provided. I have very small level of confidence in either of them. First of all, the specs aren't even the same. Second, note that the rear camber problem magically shifted from right to left. The front toe, despite being adjusted a few days before was out according to the second place. And what, for the love of Zeus, is this place doing measuring alignment in fractions of inches? How can they have a zero tolerance spec for toe? If their measuring resolution is 1/32", how can they certify that anything reads exactly 1/32"? It's patently absurd. There are numerous differences in readings between the two alignments that exceed the total spec for each particular measurement. The inescapable conclusion is that these alignments, and I suspect the entire alignment industry is completely bogus. The problem is these places are performing high precision measurements without even understanding the fundamentals of measurement uncertainty, precision, confidence or traceability. I respect that automotive technicians are good at putting pieces onto a car, but they're really not equipped to be doing advanced metrology. I wonder if any of these places have machines that are calibrated. I would wager that less than 1 in 1000 do. Rant over.
