Thanks for the ideas but air blows through the vents like it should, it's just not heated. I don't know about a "second" flapper. Where would that be? The stiff wire to the plastic arm just after the blower works fine. It moves that flapper full range.
Another post said there is a plastic divider inside the core and hot water will not go through the whole core when it degrades. The water just goes in and immediately back out without going through the core. Seems a new core might be the fix.
