When I first tuned my 96 9000, I purchased the NGK iridium plugs, and gapped them at .038 (0.98mm) They ran very well in all temps for 15K miles without any service. The electrode on that plug may be small, but it does not deteriorate as fast as the NGK standard plug electrode does(BCPR7ES).
Last March I installed four standard plugs, and I can feel them beginning to fade(gap is widening) at highway speeds. Next month I'm gonna toss them and go back to the NGK iridium version (-EIX flavor). My time is worth the extra $20 a set for eighteen months of solid performance.
