Touchy question...9006->Xenons...anyone tried it ? Posted by vtsnaab [Email] (#26) [Profile/Gallery] (more from vtsnaab) on Mon, 30 May 2011 21:26:05 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
That's what my low beams take, 9006 halogens.
I wish I'd known how bright the Xenons are when I had my '91 with those insipid 9004-based headlamps; I might've been able to see decently with Xenons !
I'm just curious because I changed my driving lights to the Xenon tubes and they are very nice - draw less power and give brighter light.
Some folks say that putting Xenon into non-projector housings means screwy lighting patterns, so I am curious to hear about that aspect of it from anyone who has actually done it and how their lights are working afterwards, visibility-wise (with just the stock lenses) ?
I tried some SMD LED replacements for various things and they are kind of neat.
The ones I tried in the headlights cast a very bright, long - but diffuse light pattern...they made the road signs look very bright.
(Not the road though...)
I also found that with SMD LED devices more IS better; the 30-LED ones I tried were noplace near as powerful as the 68-LED ones, even though the LEDs themselves are smaller and crowded very closely together.
(A very different look than halogens and fun to try too.)
Best Wishes.
