I haven't tried the Xenons because 9005 lamps in the low beam position work very well (1700 lumens properly aimed), draw about the same power (65 vs 55 watts), don't annoy other drivers, raise no eyebrows at annual vehicle inspections, are dirt cheap, are an easy modification to install using the same harness that connects to the 9006, and are a reversible modification if you don't like the outcome.
The only drawback is that plain jane 9005s only last about 12-15 months in the low beam position. That's with daytime running lights disabled, so I only use headlights at night and during rain. Next time I'll give up 200-300 lumens to get 9005LL (long life) halogens which will still be far safer than the wimpy 9006.
If you want to see better, then 9005s get it done. If you want an updated lighting look, then maybe not. Xenons would be a more authentic way to update the look than overpriced, overclocked, short-lived 900x bulbs that are designed to look whiter or bluer.
