A sticky exp valve can often be returned to usefulness by Whacking the rascal with a blunt instrument..hard enough to jar it.. while trying not to damage it or the AC system in process :-)
Erm.. Beat on it until it works??
PS: Test for Exp valve function is to watch the press gauge. IF the pressure (even a little) changes with increased Engine RPM then the Valve is working :-)
In my part of the world a can of Duracool cost me $7 each (on sale) So I have a stockpile in anticipation of any minor leaks. Sometimes it's easier/simpler to recharge sporadically than to chase down some minor but elusive leak.
Note: reputedly a Can of MSR (camp stove? propellant) is virtually the same stuff as Duracool, similar purity levels as well. A Large container can be had inexpensively. Do some research and if proven accurate, a 5 year refrigerant supply for $10 may be possible.
