While the childproof switch may be on, it won't open from the outside either.I won't be able to confirm that until I can get it open. I've not figured out how to do that from inside the door yet. I'm not sure I can remove the inner latch without access to the (3) #35 torx screws holding the outer plate through the door edge.
The battle will continue, hopefully with patience, and lube, I will be able to insure that the "unlock" slider in the latch is in the correct position for it to open.....
