I will report back once I find something. Thinner viscosity should help get oil to the switch, bearings and top end a little quicker on cold starts. The light doesn't come on when I'm driving, only on cold starts. The colder it is, the longer it takes. I suspect either the bearing clearances aren't too good, a weak oil pump, or as derf pointed out, a partly clogged pickup screen. Maybe a combination of more than one thing. The engine has never knocked or rattled so it isn't horribly played out. It's got 189K on it. As long as it has oil to the bearings, I'm not gonna panic. The near zero starts make me a little nervous, though.
