Dref will have to speak for himself on this topic.
Better to skip theories and rely on facts. One of which is that oil does not wear out but the oil's additive package does wear out. Changing the filter frequently does not alter that fact or delay the consumption of additives.
So how long can you go between changes given the brand of oil and filter you use, the length of your typical trip and the way you drive? The only way to know is with used oil analysis from a reputable lab.
I've never been that curious. I put in a good synthetic motor oil and a good filter, drive it 5,000 miles, then repeat. I would do the same with dino oil, only change it more frequently.
