Looked at my 97 9000 Wiring diagrams And noticed that the dash board Battery light is in circuit with the Grn/white 'exciter' wire.
AND my battery light has been Dead for a couple or more years now.
Fair Guess being that the Alternator needs rev up enough voltage to get a triggering current thru that dead bulb and it's paralleled resistor.
Had heard of this in "other' cars ie; a dead warning light interfering with the exciter.
Never occurred it would happen in Me Saab. Live 'n learn.
Still.... just a guess at this point.
Will have to pop off the damned Dash top and stuff in a fresh bulb to be sure.
Any advise?
Slip rings are good.. Checked them for solidity as well as surface condition.
Before stuffing in the fresh VR..
Good guess though.. thanks..
